It's been quite a year.  I haven't had any babies for a bit, but I am expecting a litter of yellow due Jan 2011.  I am currently taking names.....
July 24 & 25, 2010
Some of the Beech Hill kids myself, Tracy, and Josh spent the weekend at the PHRC AKC hunt test in Canaan, Maine.  I personally had a great time.  Beech Hill's Owen who is co-owned and trained by Wes Dean was the test dog for the Junior level both days.  Tilden who is only 6 months out from a back injury was the set up dog for Sat and Gidget was the set up dog for Senior on Sunday.  Congrats to Beech Hill Bocephus Rush Heath on achieving his 3rd junior leg....one more to go........Gidget also achieved her 3rd Junior leg!!!  Can't wait for the next hunt test!!!!  It will be August 28 & 29 in Dover, Maine.
July 10, 2010
The annual PHRC Working Certificate was held at Cedarwood Kennels in Bradford, Maine where several Beech Hill & Beech Hill Pond kids ran and passed!  Our special girl, Birdy, who was born with a medical condition called Megaesphogus, passed with flying colors at the age of 8 months!!!  She doesn't know she has a problem....lol  Beech Hill's McDerry Hydration, "Hydra" can also add WC to her name.  She is co-owned by myself and Sue Humphrey of McDerry Labs........she is very special to Sue.  To support the PHRC and it's WC event several of our dogs were entered even though they have already titled:  Edgemere's Rising Waters Over Beech Hill, WC CGC, Beech Hill Bocephus Rush Heath, WC, SHR Beech Hill Pond's Waterbug, WC CGC, Beech Hill Pond's Frog, WC, and our 2 kids that didn't pass were Oscar and Regan....you can't pass them all.  There's always the fall one.
July 2, 2010

January 21, 2010
I am on my way to Colombus, Ohio to help Aaron get settled into his new place as he is going to work out there.  We will have a week to see the sites and hopefully have a bit of a relaxing vacation.  I don't know how I'm going to do it without any dogs, but only time will tell......OK who am I kidding I'm gonna miss my kids and my four legged kids like crazy.  I haven't been away anywhere without a dog or two.....well I can't remember being anywhere without at least one furry face to kiss.  I will be back on Jan 30th, so if you are trying to get in touch with me please be patient!  I will tell you all about the trip when I get home.
January 2, 2010
Happy New Year!!!  I currently have available:  2 black males, 2 yellow males, 1 black female and 1 yellow female.  You can see pics of them by clicking here.
November 11, 2009
I have finally found the time to add new puppy pictures!  You can see them by going to the litter box and clicking on a link there.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed taking them.  There are still a few puppies available to those wanting a puppy for Christmas as they will be ready to go Dec 15 and Dec 26.  The first Beech Hill lab I purchased was Beech Hill's Meadowmere Brooke, JH CD CGC WC WCI.  She was given as a Christmas present to my family.  It was quite a surprise as I wrapped a box that I could remove the top and with the help of my mother I pulled off the surprise.
October 31, 2009
Happy Halloween!  I have 6 goblems in my whelping box out of Jenny and Umaga.  I have 3 black males, 1 black female, 1 yellow male, and 1 yellow female.  I can't believe she had them today.  This is the second litter born on a holiday.  I had Christmas babies last year...
October 27, 2009
Mallory's babies are a week old today and they are just doing awesome.  She is a really good mother.  She keeps them clean and well fed.  Their pigment is starting to show so I am expecting beautiful dark noses and eye makeup.
October 21, 2009
It's 1:30 pm and Ms. Mallory just gave birth to number 13!  I am amazed!  She did a fantastic job and had no trouble spitting out those precious gems.  Please check out the litterbox page for pictures.
October 21, 2009
It's official!  We have newborns!  Mallory just had number 12 at 8:30 am.  Right now we think she's done, but we aren't taking any changes and will be watching her all day.  This is the biggest litter I have ever had!  It's so exciting.  There are 4 black females, 3 black males, 3 yellow males, and 2 yellow females.
October 20, 2009
It's about 6 pm and Mallory just gave birth to a black female.
October 4, 2009
Rain, rain, rain was the condition of the day at the Bare Bones classic in Dixmont, ME at the Wassookeag Kennel where Umaga, Frog, and Owen passed their PHRC Working Certificate tests for their WC titles!!
September 29,2009
Although Lily cannot have any babies because of her accident 3 years ago, Tracy hasn't stopped from working toward titles.  She recently had Lily tested for therapy dog work and passed with flying colors.  Congratulations!!!
September 26 & 27, 2009
This weekend was spent in Topsham, Maine at a dog show.  Ellie my bullmastiff finally finished her breed championship!!  It has been many shows of excitement and dissappointment, but it was worth every minute!  Ellie is my very first every breed champion. Tracy and her dog Gidget passed both days in Rally Novice.  They even placed 2nd with a score of 97 on Sunday!!!!!  I keep telling her she has trained enough with her dogs to get success!
September 12 & 13, 2009
Saco River Hunting Retriever Club in Buxton, Maine held their annual HRC hunt test which Tracy & I attended along with my dog Tikka, her dog Gidget, and Sue Humprey's McDerry dog Jasper.  I am happy to report they all passed both days at the started level!  So the score is 3 legs for Tikka, 3 for Gidget, and 2 for Jasper.  Passing a dog at the started level is a great feeling of accomplishment.  However, the next level which is Seasoned is  even more of a great feeling.  I ran my Oscar at the Seasoned level on Sunday.  He didn't pass but I had a great time!  I can't explain the feeling of handling a well trained dog off lead with doubles, blinds, walk-ups, and a diversion bird.  Now I know what your thinking, but I didn't pass.  It doesn't matter he got all 8 birds he just didn't have enough points.  I will be running him next year!!  So stay tuned.
September 6, 2009
What a beautiful fall day in Maine!!!  Perfect weather for training dogs which is exactly what I did along with my son Josh and my friend Tracy.  The Guns Up HRC crew held one of their many training days for members.  I am so proud of Josh as he is finally stepping up and doing more of the training with my dogs.  And not to brag to much(well maybe a little) he is doing more than a fine job!  So I got to sit on my butt in a blind for the day and enjoy the warm sun.  I don't get to see my dogs run as I am the only one who trains them so this was an especially nice treat for me.
Josh's puppy Reagan is coming along great.  Make sure and look for him and her at the hunt tests in 2010!
August 30,2009
Tracy took her dog Beech Hill Pond's Waterbug, "Gidget" to the MRTC hunt test in Burnham,ME where she qualified at the Junior level for their first leg!  AWESOME!
August 27 & 28, 2009
Tracy and I took Lily, Oscar, and Jasper to the dog show in Cumberland, ME.  Jasper who already has his Rally Novice got a bumper leg and Oscar qualified for his 3rd RAE leg.  Tracy and Lily completed her Rally Novice title with a 95 and 90!  Way to go Tracy and Lily!!!!  I am so proud of you!
August 14, 2009
If any of you know what it's like to show in the breed ring I'm sure you can understand what it means to place at a speciality.  Well, my bullmastiff, Ellie took Reserve Winners Bitch at the American Bullmastiff Association speciality held in Fitchburg, MA.  On top of that her sister, Jasmine went Winners Bitch!!!!  It was so exciting!!
August 9, 2009
As a parent I truly want my sons to experience the joy of training, owning, and handling a dog.   I am proud to say that both my sons have the "IT" factor when it comes to dogs.  However, my youngest son Ty puts his first love first.....soccor.  So while Ty was at a soccor practice Josh handled 6 of my dogs at the PHRC Working Certificate for youths only.  He qualified several of my dogs and couple of my client dogs.  I think I had more fun watching him then he had running the dogs.  I just loved it when he took over and said "mom I don't need your help".  You know what he was right!!!!  He did a fine job.  Ty, who is a freshman, does a great job playing soccor.  He is on the varsity team at PVHS and is in the starting line-up.
August 1, 2009
Congratulations Tracy and Lily on achieving the Working Certificate Intermediate title at the PHRC WC in Dover, ME.  I couldn't be more proud of both of them.  Another Congrats goes out to Graycrft Simply Essential at Edgemere, RN WC for passing the Working Certificate.  I can't thank Anna and Karen enough for trusting me with their kids!
July 18 & 19, 2009
Despite the downpour on Sat Tikka, Bo, and Jasper all passed the Junior level.  Sunday was absoultely beautiful!  Bo passed giving him his 2nd leg towards his JH title.
July 6, 2009

June 11 & 12, 2009
The Labrador Retriever Club of Greater Boston held their annual speciality in Westford, Mass, which I myself have been for the past 3 years and my friend Tracy Bouchard's first year where she had her dog Lily entered in Rally Novice for her first ever AKC event in rally.  The first day was a bit disappointing, but the second day she got her first Rally Novice leg.  I would like to personally thank the veterans at the show for their support they gave Tracy.  Being her first event she was so disappointed in not qualifying, but as she realized it's part of the game!  Everyone made a point to give her some support!  My lab friends are great!
Oscar is working toward his RAE title and now has 2 legs out of the 10 needed.  The others that passed were Jenny & Jasper for 2 Rally Novice legs each.  Tikka passed her Rally Excellent class both days for 2 legs!  Riza got her two legs for Rally Novice which finished her Rally Novice title.  For more information on this event visit the host club website The Labrador Retriever Club of Greater Boston.
May 23 & 24, 2009
The Guns Up HRC test in Dover, Maine was held this weekend and I had the pleasure of handling Graycoft's Edgemere Seaworthy "Noah" to his Started Hunting Retriever title!!!   Noah is Umaga's daddy and man are they two peas in a pod.  I can't believe how much their mannerisms are so much alike!!  Congratulations to Tracy and Gidget on their first Started pass!!!!
May 9 & 10, 2009
I am always willing to learn new things.  Tracy Bouchard (Beech Hill Pond Labs) and I spent the weekend at an advanced training seminar with pro trainer Lois Munroe.  I personally learned a few new tricks to advance my retriever training to the next level.  Lois is very knowledgable in the advanced levels in particular Senior and Master.  After attending this 2 day seminar I am confident I will be able to compete at the upper levels.  Please take the time to check out her website at Heart and Soul Retrievers.
April 29, 2009
We have babies!!!  Bitsy just gave birth to 10 healthy puppies.  There are 3 yellow girls, 2 yellow boys, 3 black boys, and 2 black girls.  I still have a few puppies available if you are interested please let me know!!
March 29, 2009
Edgemere's Rising Waters over Beech Hill, Beech Hill's Pond Mallard, and Beech Hill Tilden all passed their Canine Good Citizen test at the Kennebec Valley Shetland Sheepdog Club fun day in Augusta!!!
January 4, 2009
Happy New Year everyone!  I finally got a chance to do one of my favorite activities today.  Oscar, Ellie, Bitsy, Jenny, Umaga, Gia, and the five pups went for a short walk in the woods.  I put some pictures from our outing on the litter box page.  I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I enjoyed watching them play in the snow.
December 25, 2008
Merry Christmas everyone!  Well Santa was very good to me this year as he brought 7 new babies to the Beech Hill Kennel.  My favorite man Oscar is a new daddy with his girl Tikka.  Santa brought 1 yellow male, 1 yellow female, 1 black male, and 4 black females.  Sooooo if you are looking for an early spring puppy I have some.
December 6 & 7, 2008
Josh and I spent the weekend at my friend Corrie's and traveled back and forth to Boston, MA where my Bullmastiff Ellie went WB both days for a 4 point and a 3 point major.  I couldn't have been happier to handle my own dog and win!  It may sound a bit like bragging, but for those of you who know what I am talking about this is quite a win.  Especially when you are up against pro handlers.
November 24, 2008
My family of labs has grown by one and decreased by one.  CAN CH McDerry's Bitter Sweet, WC CGC, "Jenny" has joined the Beech Hill kids and Tera has gone to live with a family in Maine.  Jenny will be learning obedience and hunt test training.  Thank you Sue Humphrey for this beautiful girl.  I am especially excited as "Jenny" is the mother to one of my favorite labs SHR McDerry's True Wave, JH RN WC CGC.
The babies are getting more and more active.  There are still a few available for anyone interested.
November 21, 2008
Congratulations to Casco Bay's Jackie OH on her newly achieved Rally Novice title at the W. Springfield show in Mass.  Thank you Kris for trusting me your DIVA.......lol
October 20, 2008
WE HAVE NEWBORNS!!  Finally I have a litter out of my boy Oscar.  The breeding between him and CAN CH Blacktorn Bitter Sweet, WC not only took but produced 9 beautiful healthy babies.  Jenny did a super job and is an excellent mother!  The babies are all yellow with 3 boys and 6 girls.  I am very excited to add another Beech Hill kid to my kennel as I plan to keep a female and perhaps a male.  Any name suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Keep checking back as I will be updating the litter box page frequently.
September 20 & 21, 2008
Tyce and Tikka not only have natural ability to work in the field to hunt ducks, but they both have brains as well.  They both qualified at the Rally Advanced level at the Saccarrappa Obedience trial in Portland, Maine to earn yet another title for this year!  Tikka tends to be a bit more interested in obedience so she not only qualified on Sunday but placed 2nd in her class.  Furthermore, I had the pleasure of watching their mother Maine Black Pantera owned/trained/handled by her owner Cheryl Robinson to her debut in the rally ring where she qualified both days!  I see where my kids get their looks and talent.  Congratulations Cheryl!!
The Ledge Farm Bullmastiff kids Gia and Shea were both entered in rally.  Gia q'd on Sunday to earn her Rally Novice title and Shea q'd on Sunday in the Rally Excellent class to earn her first leg.  Gia who is only 10 months old NQ'd on Sat due to her sillyness and inexperience.  However, she did give the crowd some big smiles!  Ms. Shea was also doing some eye catching moves when she NQ's on Sat in the Excellent class when she went down on the sit/stay honor.  She is such a big girl and it was so hot in there(yeah that's my excuse for her).  Her Rally Novice and Rally Advance titles were completed without any NQ's so I guess it was her turn.
I want to thank Kris Wescott of Casco Bay Labradors and Karen Cheney & Anna Clark of the Edgemere/Graycroft kennel for allowing me to handle their kids Cascobay's Jackie OH and Graycrft Simple Essential at Edgemere "Ellie" in the Rally Novice class and BOSS CH Graycroft's Distant Vision, SH CD RE "Amy" in the Rally Excellent class.  It was such a surprise to Kris and myself when Jacki not only q'd both days but took a fourth on Sat and a FIRST on Sunday with a fine score of 99!  Ellie also q'd both days to earn her Rally Novice title!  I can't thank them enough for trusting me with their babies.  I must do a bit of bragging about Amy.  I have not once taken any time to do any training with this dog personally.  She was trained by Anna & Bill Clark for her CD and her Senior hunter.  I have always taken her in the ring from ring side.  The Clarks did such a fine job of training her that I didn't need to do anything other than run her.  Not only did Amy achieve her Rally Novice, Rally Advance, and Rally Excellent titles this year at the age of 8 1/2, but she did it without failing one class!!!  That's right she went straight up the ladder and placed in the top four in 95% of the shows.  It is a bitter sweet end for me and Amy.  I'm so happy she has her RE title, but that means I won't be showing her anymore.  Well unless a CDX or RAE is on the plate...............lol
September 13, 2008
Tyce and Tikka both passed their fourth and final HRC test to their Started Hunting Retriever title at the Saco River Hunting Retriever Club HRC test in Buxton, Maine.  My good friend Corrie and her dog Coot passed his first pass.  It started off as a rainy day, but quickly turned out HOT!!
August 28, 29, 30 & 31, 2008
The Ledge Farm Bullmastiff girls and I were at the dogs shows in Union, Maine where they were entered in breed and rally.  Ms Gia qualified at the Rally Novice level for 2 legs towards her title and she went Winners Bitch 2 of the 4 days.  My girl Ellie was Winners Bitch the other 2 days.  It was a good weekend for me as a handler.  Fawn went Reserve Winners Bitch on one of the days.  Tera was entered in breed as well where she placed 4th in the open yellow bitch class both days.  I also had the pleasure of handling a couple of the Graycroft/Edgemere kids.  Noah finished his Rally Novice title with a fine score of 95 and Ms. Ellie in her debut rally trial not only qualified in the Rally Novice class with a 98, but took FIRST PLACE!  She was such a pleasant surprise to both myself and Karen.  Hopefully Ellie and Amy will finish the weekend of September 19 & 20 at the obedience/rally trials in Portland, Maine.  Stay tuned for more details.
August 23 & 24, 2008
Mr. Tyce is such a surprise to me.   He is a very reserved polite young man that has been such a true joy to train.  At the PHRC hunt test held in Dover, ME he complete his 4th and final junior test for his Junior Hunter title.  Ms True also completed her JH title in fine style.  She has been a whole bunch of fun to get to know and train.  True is extremely intelligent and willing to learn with a whole bunch of attitude.  A couple of my close friends had a successful weekend as well.  Lily and Coot also completed their JH titles.  Congratulations Tracy and Corrie!!!
July 19, 2008
The PHRC held it's 2nd annual Firecracker Classic Working Certificate in Dover, Maine where True passed the WC to earn her title. Gidget and Tilden who are only 6 months and 2 days old both passed the WC level to earn their titles.  They are litter mates out of Bitsy and Tyce.

Please check out the following website as it has pictures taken by a very talented photographer by the name of Jeremy Kezer.  Jeremy not only takes pictures at many of the New England hunt tests and shows, but he is always willing to help out at the tests.  Please visit his site and let him know what you think.  Feel free to order some pictures as well.  He certainly works hard at it.  Oh and you will see some of the Beech Hill kids in action!!

July 5 & 6, 2008
Oh my gosh, what a weekend! The PHRC held it's 2nd annual July AKC hunt test in Dover, Maine with good numbers and great fun.  My Beech Hill kids Tyce and Tikka were both entered in the Junior stake where Tyce qualified both days for 2 legs and Tikka qualified on Sunday for 1 leg.  Her nose tends to get her in trouble.  She had a long hunt on Sat and just couldn't push out far enough.  I do think she learned from her mistake and did a fantastic job on Sunday.  The other two kids I had were True from the McDerry kennel and Noah from the Graycroft kennel.  True qualified both days for 2 legs and Noah got his 2nd leg.  It was a great weekend as I also had the pleasure of watching a couple of Beech Hill kids pass from different owners.  Beech Hill Coot whom is a tender age of 9(he doesn't act it for sure) passed both days with owner/handler/trainer Corrie Roberts.  Beech Hill's Pond Lily qualified both days with owner/handler/trainer Tracy Bouchard for 2 legs towards her Junior as well.  I am so proud of Coot, Corrie, Lily, and Tracy.  I truly have a passion for dogs and to see Tracy and Corrie find that same passion just warms me all over.  I feel as though they get me and my obsession.........yeah I'm corny.......
June 28 & 29, 2008
South Hero Island, Grand Isle, Vermont is where I spent the weekend with my good friend Peggy Knowles of Warren-Hill Labradors at a UKC HRC hunt test.  I took four dogs with me and Peggy took her two Katie and Callie.  The four I had were Graycrofts Edgemere Seaworthy, Noah, my Tyce and Tikka, and the McDerry dog I have had since mid-February, McDerry's True Wave, True.  I am happy to say all 6 dogs passed both days at the started level.   Peggy's dogs both titled along with True.  It was a great weekend all around.  Peggy and I both felt at home with the Lake Champlain Retriever Club members.  If you ever get a chance to go out to Vermont, I would encourage you to attend one of their events.  On another note, I had to leave my favorite boy home, Oscar, with Aaron and I'm not sure I like the results!  I spent the day with him(Monday) and as soon as Aaron got home I didn't exist.  I guess I have to step up my training with him so he can advance to the next level and I won't have to leave him home.  Actually, I'm glad they have found a bond.
June 21 & 22, 2008
On Saturday I spent the day in Cumberland, Maine at the local dog show where I had 2 entries in Rally Novice, 1 entry in Rally Excellent, and 1 entry(Ellie my Bullmastiff) in breed.  I am very relieved to say my three client dogs all passed.  Graycroft's Distant Visions, Amy, not only qualified in Rally Excellent for her first leg but she also placed 3rd!  Sushi(Golden Retriever) passed to her second Rally Novice leg and Edgemere Graycroft Sassafras, Sassy, finished her Rally Novice title!   The following day I got to do what I love to do the most and that is to judge at the Junior Hunt test level in Troy Maine for the Maine Retriever Trial Club.  It truly is my favorite thing to do and that is to watch retrievers do their thing!!!
June 12 & 13, 2008
The Labrador Retriever Club of Greater Boston held their annual speciality at which I attended along with a few of my friends.  To make a long story short:  Oscar finished his Rally Excellent with a first and second placing as well as his CD and a consistent 3rd place both days, Tyce and Tikka both picked up a Rally Advance leg with a first and second placing, and Tikka placed in breed both days with a 3rd and 4th.  I couldn't have been more happy with their performance.  To add to my joy Anna Clark and Karen Cheney had me handle a few of the Graycroft/Edgemere dogs in the Rally ring.  Amy qualified both days in Rally Advance to her title, Noah qualified both days in Rally Novice along Noah.  I can't thank Anna and Karen enough for giving me the opportunity to handle their well trained beautiful labradors.
June 1, 2008
The Beech Hill kids will be at the PHRC training day at Dysarts field in Hampden, Maine.  You do not have to be a member to attend.  If you would like to attend, please contact me for directions and specifics at twhounds@midmaine.com .
May 24 & 25, 2008
A great weekend was just what I needed after my long week of grooming dogs.  Not only do I train, show, and handle dogs, but I own a grooming shop as well.  The Pine Tree Pet Supply and Grooming shop is located in West Enfield Maine.  Oscar, Tera, Tyce, Tikka, and True spent the weekend chasing ducks at the Guns Up HRC test in Dover, Maine.  All five were entered in the Started level where on Sat they all passed!  That was Tera's last leg for her Started Retriever title and Oscar's bumper leg.  True, Tyce, and Tikka passed on Sat to earn their first leg.  A total of four legs or tests are required to earn their title.  On Sunday True passed to receive her second leg!  It was an absolutely beautiful weekend.  Please check out their pages to see new pictures from this event.  Tracy and Lily were entered on Sat where Lily completed her final Started Retriever test to earn her title!
May 17 & 18, 2008
What a weekend at Wassamki Springs campground in Portland, Maine!  The Vacationland Kennel Club held their annual dog show, obedience, and rally trial. This is my third year attending and I have to tell you in the past this event has been marred with RAIN!  It turned out to be an absolutely beautiful weekend with nice warm sunshine.   I had several of my Beech Hill kids with me and several kids that I have here for training.  Oscar and Tyce both qualified in their Rally classes.  Tyce qualified on Sat to earn his Rally Novice title and Oscar earn qualifying ribbons in the Rally Excellence class and took a fourth place each day.  McDerry's True Wave from the McDerry Kennel not only qualified on Sat to receive her Rally Novice title, but she placed First with a score of 99!!  I moved Tyce and True up to Rally Advanced on Sunday in which they both qualified.  Fawn & Gia from the Ledge Farm Bullmastiff kennel were shown in the breed.  Fawn took second each day in her 12-18 month class and Gia took Best of Breed puppy on Sat and won her class on Sunday.  This was Gia's first show.  She acted like a seasoned veteran.  I had my bully Ellie entered in breed as well where she took 2nd place each day.   My next event is coming up this weekend and will be at the UKC hunt test being held in Dover, Maine.  Ah my first passion retriever training!!  Which reminds me I have a new project which I picked up after the show on Sunday.  She is a Beech Hill kid that went to live on Cape Cod, Mass back in Dec 2007.  Her name is Minnie and she is out of Bitsy and Tyce.  Minnie is not here for hunt test training but is here to become a companion hunter for her owner Jack.  She is just adorable!!  I hope to have some pictures of her very soon on my photo's page.   So stay tuned!!!
May 4, 2008
On my way home from the dog show in Acton, Maine, I picked up the newest member of the Beech Hill kids.  I am proud to announce the addition of a black male puppy from the Graycroft/Edgemere Kennel who is owned by Bill & Anna Clark and Karen Cheney.  This puppy is a half sibling to my Tera, they both have the same mother, Graycroft's Shared Horizon.  I hope to have new pictures soon and I will be adding his page(when I get a minute.....lol).  Any name suggestions would be great!  twhounds@midmaine.com Furthermore, Karen has entrusted me with her black female Sassy(Tera's half sister-same mom) to train and title in Obedience and Rally.  And, if I have time introduce her to birds.  I can't wait to do the training on her Rally and I know the retriever training is not top priority with Sassy, but I am anxious to see if she likes birds.  The most important attribute in the Labrador Retriever is their natural ability to retrieve waterfowl.  To me it is the most amazing thing I have ever experienced in my life and that is the natural ability of the Labrador Retriever.  It is my passion to bring it out!  Sometimes the Labrador Retriever doesn't know they were bred to be bird dogs, but boy when they figure it out.......................look out!!  I am still just completely humbled by a retrievers desire to hunt.  I personally love to hunt and to have a friend love it as much as me is just the most wonderful bond someone can have whether it be with another person or in my case a dog.
May 3 & 4, 2008
Oscar, Tyce, True, Ellie, Fawn, and I spent the weekend in Acton, Maine which is considered southern Maine at an annual dog show.  Let me just say it was absolutely miserable with spring rain and MUD!  Oscar qualified in Novice Obedience on Sunday and placed 2nd.  Tyce qualified in Rally Novice on Saturday and Sunday he not only qualified but placed 2nd with a perfect score of 100!  I am so proud of him as this was his very first show.  True, Sue Humphrey's McDerry Labrador, qualified both days and placed 2nd and 4th which was a great surprise to me and Sue(whom was very pleased with Ms Trueheart's performance).  Ellie placed on Saturday in her class and went on to be Reserve Winners bitch.  Fawn placed in her class both days.
April 12 & 13, 2008
Although none of the BH kids made it to Rhode Island, I went and showed my Bullmastiff, Ellie along with the Ledge Farm kid, Fawn.  On Saturday, Fawn went winners bitch in the breed ring and Ellie qualified in Rally Novice.  On Sunday, Ellie went winners bitch for 2 points and qualified in Rally Novice to complete her title.  I would have taken some of the lab kids, but completely missed the deadline to enter.......darn!
April 6, 2008
The KENNEBEC VALLEY SHETLAND SHEEPDOG CLUB of Maine held their annual Fun Day in Augusta, Maine at which I attended with a few of my closest and best friends Oscar, Ellie, Tera, True, Fawn, Wego, Tyce, Lily, and Mallory.  Well and of course my friend Tracy.  This event was a fun day and included CGC testing.  True, Fawn, Tyce, and Wego all passed the CGC test to earn their CGC titles!!!  The other kids and I practiced Rally Novice, Rally Advanced, Rally Excellence, and Novice Obedience which was a whole bunch of fun.  Tracy with her two dogs Lily and Mallory practiced their Rally Novice along with Mallory passing the CGC test to earn her CGC title!!!  These two dogs are Tracy's first ever AKC registered dogs and her very first AKC titles of CGC.  Lily already passed her CGC the previous year at the PHRC annual membership meeting.

Tyce, Addie, Tera, Tikka, Tia, Oscar, Bitsy, & my Bullmastiff Ellie all went to the eye clinic held at Carden Kennel in Bangor, Maine where they all passed with flying colors.  I couldn't be more pleased.  I have sent the forms in to CERF.  Please feel free to look up my kids on the CERF website.   In conjuction with the eye clinic was an OFA heart clinic.  Although it is not a requirement clearance, I had Oscar and Tyce examined and to my great pleasure they both passed and will receive their heart clearance from OFA.  I am sure as the years pass the heart clearance will become one of the CHIC requirements.  Oscar and Tera are listed on the CHIC website, which is Canine Health Informaiton Center.
March 14 & 15, 2008
Oscar and Tyce along with the Heath's dog Bo were invited to attend the Sportsman Show in Orono, Maine to do retriever demostrations for the PHRC.  I talked to a whole lot of people and the boys got many pats and compliments.  They also got to swim in the pool and retrieve a couple of bumpers.  It was a bit strange for Tyce and Bo as they hadn't been in a pool before, but Oscar has been there 3 years running now.  It was nice treat for the boys to go for a swim.

Tera and Tikka spent the day at the PHRC annual meeting where they both passed their CGC tests.  I would like to thank June Cawood of Maranantha Kennel for doing such a good job testing.  June was informative and very professional.  In other news I have been elected Vice President again this year for my second year in office for the Penobscot Hunting Retriever Club.  I love to be active in my dog community.  At the meeting the annual Award of Merits were given out.  The Beech Hill dogs Tikka, Tyce, Jake, Oscar, Tera, and Addie all received AOM for their 2007 hunting titles.  I am going to get a picture of the ribbons on here somewhere they are absolutly beautiful and BIG.
February 20, 2008
I have been doing some in house obedience with my dogs and a couple of client dogs.  I currently have Sue Humprey's dog, McDerry's True Wave, "True" here for Rally.  The Nix Bullmastiffs are here for Rally and socialization, there names are "Summer"(who is Ellie's mom) and Millett's Here We Go Again, "Wego".  They are so much fun to get to know and play with.  I just love training dogs!  Other than that I have been doing some shed hunting and just plain enjoying a true Maine winter which means a whole bunch of snow.  We already have a total of 115 inches.  Everyone I talk to is complaining about the snow, but I try to remind them that we have had it pretty good for the past couple of years.  It still doesn't stop the snow haters, but for me I just accept it.

Sue Humphrey of McDerry Labradors has entrusted me with training her beautiful black female, McDerry's True Wave, to a Rally Novice, CGC, WC, and Rally Advanced title.  Thank you Sue for the opportunity to meet True and title her.

December 7, 8, & 9, 2007
Not only do I show, train, and handle my own dogs, but I handle other owners dogs as well.  I spent the weekend in Boston, MA at the Bay Colony Cluster showing in breed, obedience, and rally.  My friend Sue of Ledge Farm Bullmastiffs was suspose to go with me, but couldn't at the last minute so my son Josh got to go to help with the dogs.  It was our first real show together.  Even though he is 15 and has a different look on life as I do, I had a great time with him.  I did discover, however, he is alot like his step-dad Aaron....lol  Anyway, my girl Tera was shown in the breed ring by Lynn Thomas on Friday to a 3rd place win......Thank you Lynn!!  Lynn was busy showing her dogs and some other breed dogs so she asked Leah Franz of Labs Landing to show her and she was very happy to!!  Leah owns Tera's father, CH Labs Landing Callaway Blue who got a JAM at the 2006 Westminister dog show.  I was thrilled!!  On Sat Tera took a 2nd, but on Sunday different judge different day we did nothing.  Well, that's dog showing(see why I don't do much of it).  In Rally Tera qualified both days to receive her Rally Novice title.  The bullmastiff girls and I did very well this weekend.  Shay qualified both days in Rally Advanced for her title and Grace did as well.  I handled her girl Fawn in the Rally Novice class to her title.

Tikka and Tyce were entered in the PHRC Fall WC in Howland where they both qualified for their Working Certificates under Junior judge Val Small of Taylor Farm Labradors.  Thanks Val for putting on a true WC!  Bitsy was also entered in the WC which she passed with ease, although she already has her WC I entered her for the practice.  This was the last hunt test for the Beech Hill gang for the 2007 season.  We had a great year in the field and now I am enjoying the Maine hunting season which I have already had the opportunity to hunt a few ducks with Oscar.  My personal favorite is the wood duck, yum, yum!  After the hunt test I got home to Addie very much in labor.  After watching and waiting and watching and waiting for most of the night she finally had 1 very cute yellow male.  I guess it was my turn to have a litter of one as some of my breeder friends have had several litters of one.  This winter I will be working with the kids on Rally and Obedience.  I plan on attending the Springfield Mass shows coming up in November.  If you see me at the shows or any event, please don't hesitate to say "Hi".  I would love to introduce you to my kids.

The gang will be at the PHRC training day in Howland.  If you're not a member you are more than welcome to come and check it out!
September 24-28, 2007
For those who don't know it, I own a Bullmastiff from NIX bullmastiffs in Rhode Island.  Her name is NIX Northeast Element.  Ellie qualified in Rally Novice at the American Bullmastiff Nationals in Asheville, NC.  My friend Sue Wass and I went to the ABA Nationals where I handled two of her dogs Fawn & Shay.  Fawn not only qualified in Rally Novice but she took a second placing.  Shay was entered in Rally Advanced and Novice Obedience which she qualified in both!  It was a long way to go for a dog show, but it just proves I am willing to go the distance.  Now all I have to do is recover......lol
September 16, 2007
The Beech Hill gang Oscar, Jake, Tyce, Tikka, Bitsy, & Tera were all at the PHRC Youth Hunt event held in Bangor.  All the dogs were run by my kids and few kids that showed up.  I personally had a great time watching my dogs make some kids very happy as they ran them to the hunt specifications for a Working Certificate.  Oscar and my son Tyler competed in the level of WCI and did a GREAT job!  Please click here for pictures from the beautiful fun day we had.

August 30, 31, & Sept 2, 2007
Over these three days I went to a dog show hosted by the Mid-Coast Kennel Club of Maine & the Central Maine Kennel Club, Inc.  These three shows were held at the Union Fair grounds in Union, Maine.  I took Tera, Oscar, and Tikka to compete in Rally Obedience for their Rally titles.  Tera received another leg toward her Rally Novice title and Tikka finished her Rally Novice title in three shows!!  Oscar already had his Rally Novice so he was entered in the Rally Advanced class where he passed to received his title.
On Friday Tera was shown in the breed ring by Lynn Thomas of Ridgeview Farm where not only did she win Winners Bitch, but she went on for Best of Oppossite and Best of Breed!  Thank you Lynn!

June 23 & 24, 2007
I judged the Junior Hunt level along with Anna Clark at the Maine Retriever Trial Club in Burnham, Maine on Sat.  On Sunday I ran the Junior hunt test with Tera and Oscar, which they both passed with flying colors.  That was Tera's first leg and Oscar's 3rd leg toward their Junior Hunter title.  They need a total of 4 legs to get their titles.
June 16 & 17, 2007
Not only can Tera compete in obedience and the breed ring she is also a hunting dog.  At the Guns Up HRC test in Dover, ME she passed both days, which gives her 2 legs(50 points) on her started retriever title.  Oscar and Lily(handled by Tracy) also passed both days giving them a total of 3 legs(75 points) towards their started retriever title.
June 15, 2007
Oscar, Tikka, Tera, and I attended the LRCGB speciality in Westford, MA where all three passed their Rally Novice class.  This was Oscar's 3rd leg and finished his Rally Novice title.  He also placed 2nd in that class!  It was Tikka and Tera's first leg.  Tera was shown in the breed ring by Karen Chaney where she placed 2nd in the Novice bitch class.  Check out her picture on her page.

Congratulations Beech Hill's Oscar, WC CC CGC on qualifying in Rally Novice both days with a score of 97 out of 100 possible points at Vacation Land Dog Club Inc. in Scarborough, Maine.   That gives Oscar 2 legs out of 3 toward his Rally Novice Title!   Beech Hill's Greenland Tikka was shown in the breed ring with a fourth on Saturday and a second on Sunday, not bad for her breed ring debut.
