Beech Hill Lab puppys are born in my kitchen in a plastic swimming pool. They are exposed to everyday family life from day 1 including small children. At 3 weeks old they are moved to a bigger area in my house where they are exposed to adult dogs, people, and more children. They learn to "potty" in shavings and literally become "litter box" trained. (Yes that's what I said I litter box train my puppies using shavings.) At 6 weeks of age and Weather permitting the puppies are taken outside every day.
